Team
We are a team of recent graduates with international experience spanning every inhabited continent. We come from a wide variety of backgrounds and focuses ranging from business entrepreneurship and construction management to international relations and urban development. Currently we are in the evaluation phase of our company, working on the ground overseas to develop our investment portfolio and determine the most pressing needs on which our company could make a sizeable positive impact.
Competition
The poverty targeting private equity funds like us are few and far between and despite the noble and far reaching international non-profit organizations currently at work, there still remains a huge potential for development that combines sustainable market based for-profit investment with visible social returns. With our core of young professionals and our partnerships with both seasoned international business experts and non-profit organizations, we seek to do just that.
Strategy
After gaining operational experience in our first companies based out of India and East Africa we will create a frontier market private equity fund for poverty alleviation. Through this company we will raise startup and growth capital for companies that will produce measurable social and fiscal returns for our investors. The small and medium sized businesses we invest in will effect long term change in their developing communities and empower the locals through dignifying job creation and access to needed services.
First Steps
MDM is currently in the research stage of a project to set up a company in India to manufacture and distribute the FastBloc building technology. We will target developers who are building low-cost housing to enable them to bring the cost down and the quality up of the homes that they are selling and renting to the lower-class market.
